Phlebotomist Job Description:
Phlebotomists are medical professionals who work in medical labs, taking blood samples from patients and adequately labeling them with their information. They conduct a wide range of tests to identify underlying conditions to assist Doctors with diagnosis and patient care.
Responsibilities:
- Performs venipunctures and skin punctures competently and expediently.
- Demonstrates complete knowledge about order of draw protocol, which blood tube to use and the volume of blood needed – knows test requirements, assists in Clinical Laboratory as needed.
- Responsible for, blood cultures, blood samples collection and looks after the blood collection room requirements and maintains cleanliness and decorum of blood collection rooms.
- Follows the appropriate procedure for obtaining and returning or cleaning / disposing of equipment and supplies
- Fosters and facilitates peer teaching activities in a clinical setting
- Demonstrates ability to perform under pressure.
- Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned by Unit Supervisor/Charge Nurse/or other Anesthetist.
Requirements/Experience/ Skills:
- Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology
- At least two (2) years of Medical Laboratory experience especially in the field of phlebotomy.
- Currently licensed in country of origin and with HAAD license to practice in Abu-Dhabi UAE.
- Fluent in spoken & written English, Arabic language is desirable, but not essential.
