Position– Lead Estimator

Job Description:
The Lead Estimator is responsible for the development and delivery of project cost estimates, ensuring that Hatch procedures and best practices are applied, as appropriate, and recommending changes to the Project Controls Manager where required.
Job Responsibilities
- Understanding estimating scope of work, deliverables, schedule of execution, estimate structure, formats, reports. Familiar with Estimating Plan and Basis of Estimate preparation.
- Construction Site / Field experience including hands on knowledge of Direct Field Labor (D.F.L) and production rates / Productivity factors for the Middle East region.
- Familiar with calculation of direct and indirect costs from a first principle basis or factorization as applicable to the class of estimate.
- Review quantity take-off from engineering drawings for civil, structural, piping and E&I works.
- Assess the Bids of OEM/Supplier/Vendor/Contractors and prepare commercial Bid Analysis to finalize the cost for Capex estimation.
- Ability to understand commercial contract conditions and implications of contractual clause.
- Familiar with calculation of growth allowance, design evolution, provisions, contingency.
- Familiar with calculation of cash expenditure, predicted escalation over project duration.
- Understanding of Estimating Project Life cycle – Pre award cost estimation (Study estimates) and Post award cost estimation & control (execution estimates).
- Familiar with setting up of Cost baseline after project award for EPCM execution.
- Ability to capture cost variations and reporting to client on a regular basis.
- Ability to review payment application based on actual progress and verification from site walk down at execution stage of the project.
- Review of final reconciliation of quantities for re-measurable contracts.
- Analyze Change, variations, claims and prepare recommendations.
- Client facing and ability to prepare and deliver presentations to all stakeholders.
Job Requirements:
- Engineering degree (Mechanical Engineering preferred). Certification from AACE International –
- Certified Estimating Professional (CEP) preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience working in the Middle East region.
- Strong MS Office skills and experience with estimating tools and systems, preferably Candy.
