Barcelona has an extensive, high quality public and private transport network available to all. Hundred of vehicles and trains move both above ground (buses, trams, taxis, motorcycles and bicycles) and underground (trains and metros) forming a network connect all neighborhoods and districts and nearby towns with more than 3,000 stops and stations.
These are some of the best ways of getting around the city in Barcelona:
Electric motorcycles
There has been a huge increase in the number of e-moto sharing startups in Barcelona in the past few years. These bikes are convenient, affordable and reliable. You can park them (almost) anywhere you want and pay per minute or a fixed monthly fee.
Note that these services are not for tourists or temporary visitors. You must have a valid verifiable driving license to be able to rent an e-moto.

Car rentals
There are lots of car rental companies to choose from. Some of the most well-known brands are Enterprise, Sixt, Rent-a-car and AutoEurope.
These companies have a wide range of cars from small city cars like Smart to big SUV cars and trucks.

Bicing: public bicycles
Barcelona is a bicycle-friendly city with numerous bicycle paths. Bicing is an urban bicycle-sharing company operating in Barcelona. Residents with a yearly membership can simply swipe their card at a Bicing station to unlock and use a bicycle.
For a membership fee of 50€ per year, the Bicing system is designed to complement other means of public transportation. For this reason, Bicing bicycles can be used for a maximum of 2 hours per ride. The first 30 minutes are free as they are included in your annual membership fee (only the mechanical one). After those 30 minute, you will have to pay an additional fee for every 30 minute extra.
Bicing is part of the city’s public transportation system and it is not for tourists or temporary visitors.

Bicycle rentals
There are many different bicycle rental companies in Barcelona. These bicycles are always shared with other people and you have to pay per hour or per day. This is why we recommend Kleta.

Taxis
Taxis in Barcelona are yellow and black and have a green light when they are free. Fares are charged per kilometer.
The fare is always displayed on the taximeter, the use of which is obligatory. You can pay by credit card or cash. Taxis usually do not accept reservations.
Buses
Barcelona has a network of bus lines that provide transport links throughout the Barcelona metropolitan area. It has one of the cleanest above-ground public transport footprints in Europe. The introduction of hybrid and fully electric buses have helped the city and the buses stay clean. All the buses are air-conditioned and overall are very comfortable.
There are two type of buses in Barcelona: day buses and night buses. All buses have their own schedule but day buses generally run from 06:30am to 11:00pm. Night buses are called Nitbus and always start with the letter N (for example, N12). The price of the ticket does not change whether you take the day or night bus. The price of a single-journey ticket is 2.20€ (at the time of this writing) but we recommend buying a T-casual ticket to pay less.

Metro and FGC
Barcelona’s metro system is very easy and fast to use and figure out. The underground metros are clean, efficient, comfortable and almost always on time. The metro network currently has 11 lines. It is jointly run by TMB and the Ferrocarril de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC).
FGC operatse FFC lines 6, 7 and 8 while TMB runs all the other one. These 11 lines connect almost every neighborhood in Barcelona. The metro also connects Badalona and Hospitalet de Llobregat to Barcelona.
The Metro and the FGC are integrated into Barcelona’s single-fare system meaning you can use your normal travel card. You can switch lines at no extra cost.

Tram
Barcelona has two tram lines: Trambaix connecting the Baix Llobregat area to Barcelona, and Trambesos which links Sant Andrea de Besos and Badalona to Barcelona. The two lines are not connected and you have to rely on other methods of transport if you reach the end of one line and wish to continue.
The system is integrated into Barcelona’s single-fare system as well. They are very clean, quiet, and well-maintained.Â
Funicular
There are three funiculars in the city Barcelona.
TMB operates the Montjuïc funicular railway, which takes passenger from the Parallel metro station to the top of Montjuïc, where popular attractions such as the Olympic Stadium, Palau Sant Jordi and the Miró Foundation are location. FGC operates the Vallvidrera funicular railway which goes from the bottom to the top of Vallvidrera. These two funiculars are integrated into the single-fare system as well.
There is also the funicular of Tibidabo connecting the end of Avenue Tibidabo to the top of the Tibidabo mountain right next to the amusement park. This funicular is not integrated into the single-fare system.
